I had hopes for recurrent systems becoming kinda… Dixie Flatline. Maybe not general enough to learn, but spooky enough to evaluate claims.

Well thank god that’s not what I wrote. What does run on corn flakes is natural GI… in several senses.
You do all this on three pounds of wet meat powered by cornflakes.
The idea we’ll never recreate it through deliberate effort is absurd.
What you mean is, LLMs probably aren’t how we get there. Which is fair. “Spicy autocorrect” is a limited approach with occasionally spooky results. It does a bunch of stuff people insisted would never happen without AGI - but that’s how this always goes. The products of human intelligence have always shown some hard-to-define qualities which humans can eventually distinguish from our efforts to make a machine produce anything similar.
Just remember the distinction got narrower.
Mods are asleep, post… as before.
LAN gamers nodding and going “… as opposed to what?”
That is not what Firefox has done.
… by submitting queries to another website that only does what’s ruining search engines.
I would still be using 7 if ransomware wasn’t a thing.
I went back to Mint instead.
You pay how much to be told no?
Windows 9x was low-bullshit.
NT and 2000 were corporate enough to be no-nonsense. They belonged to the administrator, but the administrator can be you.
ME was a mistake.
XP was not yet online enough to be properly skeezy.
But from Vista onward, yeah, it’s been an escalating shit-show that’s difficult to miss.
“AI is whatever hasn’t been done yet.”
Which is ridiculous, it’s a fine webcomic.
Hitting a locked 1000 Hz and nitpicking the frame-pacing is not the point of high refresh rates. It makes exact framerate irrelevant. Even for mundane double-digit framerates - this would work the same as FreeSync. Frames would appear the instant they are ready. There is no difference between 60 FPS and 59 FPS.
You can limit an efficient game to 240, and if it doesn’t hit that, who gives a shit.
If All can see you, All can participate. Nobody gets an unchallenged megaphone.
Advertising is a goddamn disease.
Citation needed.
“If Elon’s idea of a ‘free speech’ website is one where people can be intimidated into silence, the outcome will be a site where the Stasi will drive out all dissent,” Stonetoss wrote.
“And I want to be that boot, not that face.”
That is an experience I do not want on my phone and computer.
Instead, a total absence of control. If something borks up you’re just hosed. Possibly no way to do a thing in the first place, to later get borked.
As I’ve told many defenders of Apple’s downright criminal restrictions - Android works the same way, if you don’t fuck with it. My first phone? Absolutely I ran custom ROMs and installed whatever from wherever. My current phone is stock. Most people’s are.
The ability to fuck with things is crucial. Actually fucking with things is optional.
Why the fuck would they need to replicate free software? It’s open. Anyone can start doing their own thing with it, independent of external influence.
