I am having similar issues with my AirTags. Each of my dogs have one in their harness. At 5pm 5 days a week my wife comes to my shop and takes one of the dogs home. No notice that she is no longer with me. Half way home I get a notice I left the dog that went home 3 hours earlier is no longer with me.

I had a similar issue when that dog was separated from us during our morning hike. It kept saying she was near at the place she last was seen by my phone, even when we located her at my truck 4 miles from where she was last seen it showed that she was still on the hike and not with me.

Even back when I used android (I switched earlier this year) I found it far faster and easier to move data wirelessly than over a cable, even a USB-C. First I had to fight with my computer and phone to connect to one another… Or I could just upload to box on my phone, refresh on my computer and move the file.

But the iOS 17 user guide still has not been released. Maybe it will be in time for 18?

My first, was actually my first Apple product, it was I believe the 4th gen (the first one with the click wheel and without the row of buttons on the top). I still have and use two of the last gen (8th? 9th?) before they all became touch.

I used to use mine on a LAN only router with no issues.
