Yeah, this seems like a prime target for Anonymous. Would be interesting to see big news outlets struggling between chasing a huge story and not wanting to cover something that outs their bosses (since there’s probably lots of them on there too).

Similar in Panamá. My husband and I visited recently and was told by out tour guide that was the way. Not nearly as bad as India - folks were pretty good about stopping at a good distance away - but it was still pretty terrifying, especially in Panamá City.
St Louisian here and I am not at all surprised to see my city in this list. I’ve lived all over the country and driven in most of our biggest metros but StL is by far one of the craziest places to drive that I’ve ever seen. People drive like assholes in a lot of big cities (looking at you DC metro) buy they are at least somewhat predictable and respectful of basic laws. Here it is literally the wild west.
They will run stoplights and signs regularly, just about every time I’m in the car I see it at least once. And it’s not just squeaking by right after it changes, it’s egregious-as in traffic has started in the opposite direction and some jackass comes flying through the intersection like they don’t even see the light. But its worse than that- I’ve seen people go the wrong way on one-way streets, drive in the opposite lane of traffic to pass, turn left across multiple lanes of moving traffic from the far right lane and using closed off construction areas as shortcuts. Pedestrians and cyclists have been hit several times in my neighborhood by drivers who were ignoring basic driving laws. It’s not just randos either- city vehicles, school busses, and cabs do this crap. They aren’t just asshole drivers- they are reckless and entitled and unpredictable.
What makes the problem worse is that a huge number of people just don’t get their cars registered at all, and drive without tags or with years old temp tags with no repercussions. This also means they are uninsured, so it’s on the insured folks to cover any accident damage.
My insurance rates jumped about 30% when I moved here and I didn’t understand why at first but I do now. I love St Louis but I hate driving here.
Oh lol cool TIL thanks
I mean, that’s shitty, but there’s no way in hell it’s the worst thing she’s had tweeted to or about her during her tenure. If all the insanity spewing from Grok and X users up to now didn’t phase her, I’m guessing she’s not bothered by this either.
(Not to say she or any other women deserves to be talked to or about like this. But by now people working at or using X know what they’re involved with and have made a choice to be there, so they must be okay with it at some level.)
So, a shitton of game developers just got laid off from Microsoft, another in a string of “restructuring” nonsense that’s been rampant in the industry.
That’s a lot of people with gaming expertise who could be put to work helping companies transition their games to single player experiences or at least making them accessible to customers after support stops. If the EU ends up pushing this forward, there’s a decent business opportunity in there.
Just watched that episode last night and I was so upset about it. This season has been rough so far.
I would actually be okay with libraries having those AI services. Even if they were available only for a fee it would be absurdly low and still waived for people with low or no income.
Wow. That is a beast. Definitely showcases some of the finer points of our weird language.
I went there last year! It’s absolutely gorgeous and totally worth the trip. We signed up for a private tour with a driver from Innsbruck and she was fantastic. Before our scheduled tour time, she walked us around the grounds, showed us some off-trail lookout points and we got amazing photos from it. It’s definitely worth spending a day there, and plan on walking around the town after seeing the castle, and leave time to check out one of the local restaurants for pretzels or brats and beer.
Lemmy, meet my babies, George and Lucille
Lucille likes to sleep in very awkward positions
George thinks nobody notices when he slowly backs up and sits on my husband’s lap.
Is that a great Dane pup? She’s beautiful!
It’s absurd and hilarious and I love it.
But is it just a stock Tacoma with big wheels or did they do more body mods to it? It looks way smaller than even older style trucks like the bed was shortened or something but that could just be an illusion due to the size of the wheels.
Had IUDs inserted twice in two different hospital systems in different states, but it was the same kind of awful both times.
Both times I was told to take ibuprofen beforehand, and that did absolutely nothing. But because it had been so bad the first time, with the second one I thought I’d be smart and took a vicodin I had from a prior procedure.
I still to lay in the room for 15 min after, trying not to vomit, and I nearly passed out. After , I walked to my car where I just sat there for 30 more min to rest. Even with vicodin it is the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life.
Not one ounce of sympathy or concern from anyone on staff.
It’s nice there are new guidelines, but I feel like it’s going to take more than that to make healthcare workers give a shit about this.
I would also recommend Pandora. I’ve had a family plan for years so I don’t know for sure but there used to be a free (ad supported) tier that you could check out. And to reiterate comments from above, custom playlists and song/album play on demand is available (though some tracks are only available in discovery mode).
I love going to used music/movie stores. So much good stuff there that can’t be edited or de-streamed out of existence.
It’s sad how true this is. Seems like a lot of dumb people out there having a good time.
This doesn’t appear as bad as some of the other ai legal stuff. Formatting references isn’t really about generating content as much as structuring it and AI (usually) doesn’t have the kind of problems with hallucinations when just tasked with reorganizing data. I’ve used GPT for reformatting references to APA style and it worked really well. I’m surprised Claude couldn’t handle this task.
Also bummed that there doesn’t appear to be a book called a statisticians guide to making inferences with noisy data, because that sounds like a book worth checking out.
There was a tweet going around reddit awhile back where someone made a joke (presumably) that chris brown was so hot he could beat her all he wanted. Its mind-boggling how brainless some people are.
I remember a time when if I wanted to know what my friends were up to I would call their home without even knowing if they were there to pick up. Location sharing is unnecessary at least 95% of the time and I don’t get the appeal.
I know this makes me sound old but I don’t care.
