I should have said a small battery backup done properly knowing full well the abysmal QA of that company.
I am not me.
I should have said a small battery backup done properly knowing full well the abysmal QA of that company.
Ya I hear you. I don’t even like driving modern cars because they are all electrical and the pedals feel like video game controls. But nothing in the Tesla is built well. I fully believe it possible to build a full proof battery backup and not just hook up a random 12v that probably suffers from the same abysmal QA as the rest of the car.
Or the foresight to have a small backup battery unit used exclusively for emergencies like say when the battery goes out or when someone reverses their car into a lake. The fact these are such death traps shows just how bad the US is when it comes to giving a flying fuck about people over money.
And all the while Elon is touted as some kind of super Lex Lutherian genius.
Honestly if I wrote a fictional book with some of the shit he’s done and how the world looks at him publishers would throw it back in my face as being the most unbelievable POS they’ve read in the past 20 years.

According to Microsoft whistleblower Andrew Harris, Microsoft spent years ignoring a vulnerability while he proposed fixes to the “security nightmare.” Instead, Microsoft feared it might lose its government contract by warning about the bug and allegedly downplayed the problem
This says everything about this shitty company. Worst of the worst. Because that’s how they make 90% of their cash. By exploiting licensing deals and siphoning data to sell to whomever because they do not care who it is so long as they bid the highest.
It’s amazing no one has tried to break up their control over PCs. Make this world make sense.
I don’t think that word means what you think it means
Look at all these kids having a good time! Not on my watch!!! 🙃
Why does this sub exist? To shit on Apple? Literally all the comments are neckbeards complaining about this or that. Wtf?
Go watch their WWDC 2024 keynote on how their cloud computing is set up to handle privacy and the sharing of information from device to cloud. And how they setup their proprietary servers.
As for generally collecting details (like contact info, location info, payment details, and even government issues IDs) how do you propose they offer services like Apple Card, Apple Pay, Digital Driver’s Licenses, etc. without knowing that info???
I swear half of Lemmy doomsday preppers! We are talking about secure transmission from device to cloud while respecting your privacy; not using Apple services as a ghost. They are not aiming to replace Mullvad; they want to build AI on top of a secure platform that doesn’t shine a flood light on your private life.
Scour their UELA all you want, really has nothing to do with the conversation; we all know they have info on you as we all know smoking causes cancer.
Yesssss! This is big and hoping other countries follow suite. Write to your elected officials all over the world and press these changes! We need to take our rights back from big tech and rein them in! They’ve been controlling us for far too long!!
Wow another idiot who did zero research into Apple’s implementation and just uses the “they are a billion dollar company” slam.
Not saying it’s better than Mullvad but it’s not nearly as poor as other VPNs. Also no, Apple doesn’t send your contact info or other details into the cloud, all that shit is anonymized.
I mean at least do SOME research into the service you’re slamming and saying is just as insecure as CoPilot+ ffs.
Yes. Lemmy needs hate Apple. We get it.
I honestly never thought I’d see this day. It’s like announcing Linux just went closed source!
Again you’re just talking out your ass. Anyway.
Someone who didn’t watch the keynote on how transparent their servers are going to be but prefers to just be an edgelord.
Did you even watch wwdc. Apple showed how its servers and data from device to the cloud were going to work. The entire thing is open to third party scrutiny and moreover, their servers won’t run on anything that isn’t. They are as transparent as basically Mullvad with ensuring you don’t come across a scenario like “trust me it’s secure bro.” Craig even joked that most businesses that rolled out AI privacy are doing just that.
Or would you rather just be an edgelord.
Weird project. Apple today released GPTK 2.0 to support ray tracing and AVX1. So they are committed to making it easier and easier to translate Dx11/12 to Metal. Their hardware has fast lanes on the actual silicon to make it even more performant. Vulkan pales in comparison (or rather the DXVK) and caps at Dx11. It can fill in gaps here and there for games that for whatever reason don’t work with GPTK but Apple’s toolkit is clearly the future.
Not sure why someone would spin this up or waste their time. Am I missing something?
There was a famous psychological study looking at in-groups and out-groups (us vs them mentality). They tested people with completely arbitrary differences. Things like giving some people short pencils and others tall pencils to see what would happen. Before long, those with similar pencils colluded together finding other similarities to bind them as a group. Not only that, but they looked down on their counterparts.
The famous “Robber’s Cave” study looked at this as well: https://www.simplypsychology.org/robbers-cave.html
They’ve found this pattern everywhere and with everyone, child, adult, every ethnicity. It’s how we are wired. Team Apple. No fuck you, I’m team Android. Windows vs macOS. Consoles are better than gaming PCs! It goes on and on and on. Blue bubbles vs green bubbles. Even if Apple switched the colors, it wouldn’t matter. People would still be pissed text messages got blue.
There’s also one huge factor no one talks about: green is not Android. Green is SMS. Since there is no interoperability between Android RCS and iMessage yet, it comes in as a standard SMS.
“I’m sorry ma’am but could you please remove your jacket from the seat? It’s obstructing the ads and we have a very clear policy about that”
🙃
Yeah I think 7 was when it was a big blip on the radar. But 100% they had to start laying that foundation beforehand, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was either always there or started making its way in 98.
95 was relatively groundbreaking and a part of me thinks the PC was so new they hadn’t thought of it yet or if it was even possible given the nature of internet, but you can’t put anything past the marketing guys that would probably love to know what colour your shit is.
There is always something you can do about it. Always.
