I stand corrected, not based.
Too verbose. I have a simpler one on mine:
FCK
ELNHonestly I view Teslas with these sorts of stickers as even worse than not having them, because Musk was always this bad.
An “I didn’t know and now I regret it” sticker would garner much more sympathy from me.
Your memory is faulty. Musk “was” a visionary savant that tried to advance humanity by making EV mainstream and advancing the mars mission. The facade dropped recently
Edit because people will mention it. Yes musk was always shitty and Its doubtful that he deserves credit for any of his ventures. But most people didn’t realize that until at least 2022.
Well, it probably means the latter, just that the person probably didn’t know of the political situation back then.
It means people were to ignorant or too dumb to notice some clearly huge red flags Elon was a nazi scam artist.
He’s been toxic for a long time though, a long long time. I do remember the first kink in his public armour was when those people were stuck in a cave and he called one of the rescuers a pedophile for not taking his advice
To be fair, Tesla began production of their first cars in 2008. The pedo cave thing was 2018.
Retrospectively, there were many signs but in 2015, I don’t think the general public had their attention directed to Elon’s bs.
I understand that Tesla feels like a young company and that everything that Elon did happened super recently. But it has been 17 years. E.g. Elon has talked about self-driving cars in 2015, promising them for 2018. Elon has failed to keep his promise of self-driving for 7 years now.
I am not arguing that Elon wasn’t a weird fascist with a toddler RP kink in 2008. Or that we couldn’t have known what kind of man he is. But rather that I don’t think the general public knew and understood in the early years of Tesla.
That being said, this seems to be a model 3 which got released in 2017… So I think that person was probably aware of the pedo cave thing at least.
Now that you mention it…
My favorite I’ve ever seen:
“I bought this before Elon went crazy.”
on a Camry
“Power does not corrupt, it reveals.” John Steinbeck
Unless its a 2008 tesla roadster it’s not “pre-madness” and even then it’s very debatable.
“Pre my awareness of world politics”
When is ignorance an acceptable excuse?
Honestly it should be, as long as you correct yourself once you know better. You can’t blame folks for stuff they honestly don’t know.
I think there’s a point where an outright excuse and a fair and sound justification only becomes explanation but not justification, and then after that can even become manipulation.
It’s impossible to ever really know intent, but we can certainly try to deduce consistencies in somebody else’s psyche. The problem arises when you encounter not knowing if somebody is truly stupid or if it is out of fear, hatred, and/or malice.
Alas, if you step back, does it even really matter? Whose fault is somebody else’s ignorance? Certainly not my own, right?
When its niche knowledge that doesnt get a lot of media attention. So not in this case.
i’d be willing to give tesla buyers benefit of the doubt up to 2016. after 2016, no excuse.
Musk has always been a shithead. He was always batshit crazy. It just took people 20 years to realize it.
would have been even longer if he just kept his mouth shut.
Would have been longer if he didn’t stop paying his PR team.
The Muskrat was always Mad!
Yeah, but it took people a while to realize. He had good PR at first, but he managed to fuck that up with the submarine thing and it’s been downhill from there.
Ah, nevermind then…
Yeah, but there was a time where he would be referenced in Star Trek or host SNL.
Imagine referencing him now as someone that helped mankind to progress or thinking “oh, let’s get Elon to host the show next time, should be fun”.
I saw a Model Y today that was debadged. First time I’ve seen that. Give them a pass? I know most will say no, but certainly there’s people out there who don’t keep up with news and bought a Tesla because it was a choice for an EV and no other reason? I just don’t like throwing people under the EV only because of what product they picked.
It’s not even about keeping up with the news… It’s about people who can’t afford to switch, for a multitude of reasons.
You know I would argue with you that people that could afford a trend car won’t likely hurt that much if they lose money on a trade, but I met a dude in ft Lauderdale who was mad over extended on his financials to look trendy. Same area many years earlier I met a Publix cashier who drove one of those small lotus’ not the 340r but something with an enclosed cabin.
Edit: looked it up it was the Elise.
Yeah. It’s crazy how much people overextend finances for cars
Yes, after the fact you can’t just dump what you have and get something else unless you can afford to lose the money. I was referring to when some were out looking for an EV, especially back when Tesla was the name everyone was talking about. Now there’s much less of an excuse since other brands offer decent alternatives.
I have BYD badges on mine until I figure out what I’m doing with it. The Rivian R3X can’t get here quick enough.
I say the same as others he has always been mad. When he takes over a company he trys to erase history and make it seem like he created it. That is the behavior of a crazy person.
TBF, it wasn’t really that widely known until he started tweeting like mad.
That is true. And I wouldn’t criticize someone who was just buying a car because they wanted an electric car. My main criticism is the people who’ve made it their whole personality, thdy are now backing out because they didn’t research and only found out because he took off his shallow mask that was public faceing. But I need to move on I have wasted to much time talking about him.
He took over a tiny company with a couple of people and turned it into a global powerhouse.
Ok, lets say that Teslas big break was Elons doing, that is an amazing achievement, yet he wasn’t satisfied, he had to be one of the founders of the company badly enough to sue to get the title.
That is not the actions of a sane person.
This is so weak… these tesla owners are pitiful.
So this person will never need to spend money with Tesla ever again to keep this car running?
EVs have drastically reduced maintenance compared to most cars. It’s fully possible they wont have to pay Tesla anymore money, especially if they opt for home charging or use non Tesla charging stations.
Yes but not Teslas. They are usually placed 2nd on the list of cars that fail the first Mandatory Safety Inspection in Germany after getting registered (it’s after 3 years). And the first place is usually the cheapest Dacia PoS where it’s at least understandable why they fail often. (A whole new car for under <10k)
There’s no new Dacia for under 10k euros…
And the TÜV can be failed because of wrongly adjusted headlights, lack of a reflecting vest or very common with electric cars, rusty breaks (due to regenerative breaking).
Back then the Sandero was available for 9k, now it’s 12,5k. But now the Model 3 is also the worst offender at TÜV
And they failed mostly because of Axle/Suspension Issues. Rusty Brakes too, but the other OEMs have solved this, by just using them occasionally via Software to keep them rust free.
Either way, it’s not a good look to have even worse quality than Dacia on a 3 year old car (14,2% Fail the Inspection)
So suspension, brakes… and lighting:
Neben Mängeln an Bremsen und Achsen treten beim Tesla auch besonders viele Beleuchtungsmängel auf
That one is known and it’s an adjustment issue, not a quality issue.
Except those unreliable hunks of junk are always breaking down
Never had an issue with mine, over 4 years old.
The old ones are extremely reliable and last forever. Mine is 12 years old with 140,000 miles. It’s still drives like the day I bought it. The only thing I’ve ever fixed is the dashboard screen. And for that I had the option of going with a generic part and doing it myself or taking it to any mechanic.
Only if non-OEM parts are a thing. Strong doubt.
