The frustration isn’t yet producing mass resignations or major internal protests
It’s okay everyone, they’re just following orders.
Some ICE employees believe that the shift in priorities is driven by a political preoccupation with deportation numbers rather than keeping communities safe.
“Some … believe.” Are the ICE agents clueless about what they are being asked to do, or is The Atlantic purposefully trying to be as soft as possible in its phrasing? The administration has been explicit that mass deportation is the goal.
I dunno, I’ve seen some videos where they seem to be having the time of their life… that’s probably just the new hires which joined for a specific purpose though.
Are ICE agents on drugs? Or are they they just horrible people from the inside out?
Some people are selfish to the point that their own personal gratification is more important than someone else’s life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. These people will right now be proudly identifying as patriots and cheering on the good criminal antagonist who is cracking down on the other bad criminal innocent bystanders in order to get to the evil criminal villain which is coincidentally the opposing political party who is comically inept and just keep fumbling the punt. So far I’m not really fond of any of the characters, i feel really bad about the bystanders but they didn’t seem to really be all too upset about being killed and violated.
3/10 Netflix will probably cancel it.
Drugs don’t make people terrible, they just amplify their own personalities.
Aww, poor babies. Maybe you should fucking quit, then.
They’re not miserable. They are fascists. Can’t wait for the crowdsourced Nuremberg/french revolution mashup (2027 remaster)
For any of them starting to ask themselves are we the baddies? It really shouldn’t need to be explained, but yes. You are clearly the baddies.
Oh no! The miserable sacks of shit are sad! ACAB.
I recently spoke with a dozen current and former ICE agents and officers about morale at the agency since Trump took office. Most spoke on the condition of anonymity, for fear of losing their job or being subjected to a polygraph exam. They described varying levels of dissatisfaction but weren’t looking to complain or expecting sympathy—certainly not at a time when many Americans have been disturbed by video clips of masked and hooded officers seizing immigrants who were not engaged in any obvious criminal behavior. The frustration isn’t yet producing mass resignations or major internal protests, but the officers and agents described a workforce on edge, vilified by broad swaths of the public and bullied by Trump officials demanding more and more.
“We’re upset, but not enough to actually do a damn thing about it” what even is this news story even about, there’s like not a single tangible thing happening here other than the author’s projected feelings about ICE agents. Like, they “weren’t looking to complain or expecting sympathy” bro you just printed an article full of their complaints, you are just fanfic-ing out loud here.
Man, It sucks so hard that a magazine founded by radical slavery abolitionists got taken over by dipshits who think they need to spend so much of their time and effort trying to flatter the far right.
Headline: ICE agents dissatisfied!
The dissatisfaction: “Our HMO coverage on sore hands from beating people into a pulp is somewhat lacking”
Most spoke on the condition of anonymity, for fear of losing their job or being subjected to a polygraph exam.
Why? Why is holding on to this job important if everything about it sucks? Management, moral, targets, inhumane methods, feeling forced to hide your identity, being dispiced by the public, etc. etc. Noting positive mentioned in the article. Why not quit? You’re not the pope, it’s not a job for life!
Why is holding on to this job important if everything about it sucks?
Seems like this comment could be asked of basically any post on Lemmy that even tangentially references politics, economics, or tech.
Where else can they inflict violence on others professionally, though?
I mean … find your passion and you’ll never work a day in your life?
Local police? They are killing it with this right now.
My best guess would be the fear of retaliation.
Sounds plausible. Most cults the only way out is death
People don’t realize that before the concentration camps the Nazis just went around either doing mass shooting of Jews(as well as Roma, Poles, and those deeming mentally unfit). Not only did this make Himmler vomit after attending one of these shooting it also left a heavy toll on the minds of the Einsatzgruppen who were carrying them out. Doing horrible violence to other human beings over and over fucks up most people, even the pieces of shit that would participate in the first place.
Anyway the next Nazi solution was vans equipped with gas chambers
It’s hard being a brownshirt.
