I mean, what you said is funny, but more so because it does actually proved an excellent analogy for what Biden could have done to actually stop Trump.
Becaue Trump literally showed up to Congress with a double barreled shotgun engraved with “executive order,” and “legal immunity” on each barrel. Then used it to bypass Congress entirely when it came to canceling appropriated funds, passing blanket Tariffs, and expanding the executive branch to include independant agencies like the FTC and SEC.
So Biden unquestionably could have done the same to the Judiciary branch, and forced an expansion of the Supreme Court without congressional approval to avoid the absolute disaster we’ve been experiencing from our highest Court since the Roe V Wade decision.
He very much could have showed up at the Supreme Court with the exact shotgun Trump is now using to rule by force. Instead he chose to follow norms, as every Democrat has before him. So now Trump chose the gun to destroy those norms, as he likewise always has before. Just now with the full support of the Supreme Court, and complete legal immunity behind him.
And no surprise, he’s done quite a lot of damage with all that legal immunity Biden left unused.
Seriously, this analogy is an excellent one for all the reasons you likely didn’t intend. (Sorry about that). However, imo, it does make your comment funnier on another level to be honest.
What pisses me off even more than Biden’s failure is all of the voters that pretend like Biden didn’t fail. I already knew Biden was going to fail before he got nominated. Here we are about to repeat the whole Saga again with unwinnable and worthless candidates led by Aristocrats in League with the Enemy. Will not even stand up and fight for the post office which has 80 some percent approval. But I am the asshole. It is my fault he lost, I did not believe hard enough!
The post is now on a 7-Day Target for delivery. My entire life 2 to 3 days, including the day you put it in the mail, within 2 to 3 days anywhere in the country it would be delivered. By 2020 it had went down to 3 to 5 days, and now it’s just went up to a full seven days. I have to wait 7 days for a piece of mail now. How people are not more upset about this I do not know I am fucking livid with rage.
There’s a lot of Commerce done over the US mail. Most of which is done by people under 50 years old even if you are not one of them. Is the lifeline of millions of small businesses in fact, the veins and arteries of small business throughout the country.
Honestly? The only thing that comes in the mail is bills and ads. I can’t remember the last time I mailed something, and it’s very rare that something I care about is coming to me by mail. Why do I care if the ads I’m about to sort through and throw away took 2 days or 7 days to get to me? I don’t want them either way.
A lot of us order things through the mail. It is essential to the small business that both parties pretend to care about while they Define it as a thousand employees or something large. And allow tax brakes by subsidiaries of multinationals under those limits but that’s another story.
The mail is essential, and you might be happy for physical delivery service given the way that electronic communications have been going recently.
The only reason I think this isn’t a possibility is because of the money and legality.
The companies that take the ad money wouldn’t turn it down.
Any company who refuses to air said ads would be sued. Not the administration, but the companies themselves. Into oblivion. They wouldn’t risk that.
The majority of political ad spending was all online in the past 4 cycles anyway. That’s just where the eyeballs are at. Put enough ads that say “This is how you stop Trump”, and it’s a done deal hopefully.
Actually, it’s been quite well documented that the laye night shows are not the profit engine they used to be, and Colbert’s show might have been legit losing money. Its hard to find hard data on this, particularly after it all got so politicized. But I did find this, which shows that late night ad revenue is much lower than it has been 10 years ago
I watch them on YouTube. As I’ve said, we don’t have a TV in the house. In addition, we don’t do ads.
Colbert’s more my humor, not Kimmel, but it’s fun. Some of the last network tv worth watching. Like pulling up SNL weekend update every week, in season.
Consider this … next elections the opposition of Trump wants to put out commercials and videos of how trump’s policies hurt America…
But the FCC has them all pulled in name of Trump because they “mislead the American public” … so only pro trump commercials everywhere…
“next elections”.
Hah!
Good one.
Russia, Iran, and North Korea still have elections.
They will be held. They might not matter, but voting booths will open.
Oh all his people he loves keeps having elections. They just run unopposed, and win no matter what.
He WANTS the elections… it’s a popularity contest, you think Trump would get rid of that?
Actual fair elections on the other hand…
Underrated comment. Postal service is likely next. Can’t have vote by mail if they won’t deliver.
He tried that in 2020
And Louis DeJoy remained postmaster general until March of ‘25. Biden let him continue dismantling the postal service throughout his entire term.
What Biden allowed post Trump is inconceivable to me. It either shows the fallacies of an old man or how powerful the machine has become.
He could’ve shown up at the Supreme Court holding a shotgun with “OFFICIAL ACTS” engraved down the barrel, but noooo

He tried a lot of things his first term that are now happening, with reinforcements.

Maybe because no one under 50 mails anything any more?

Some of us are trying to direct order things instead of using Amazon. Granted, that’s 2/3 UPS

a la Napoleon, the confederate states of america, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, and the Likud.

People simply aren’t as likely to wait and watch a thing live when you can always stream it after the fact
Kimmel and Colbert the hosts were. The shows were barely breaking even. Do you know a lot of people who watch late night shows? I don’t.
The old TV networks (ABC, CBS) aren’t being bought by vultures because they’re super successful…
Here’s a Paramount exec complaining how little YouTube pays, because that’s where a lot of views come from.

Off of political ads?
If you tried to sue a private company for not running your ads, you’d save more time just lighting your money on fire.

That’s only for broadcast television and radio.
What are you responding to? That’s exactly what we’re talking about.
No, broadcast television was never specified by you or anyone else in this comment chain.
The FCC has purview of ONLY broadcast entities. Not cable, or internet. Read the original comment.
Your own source discredits that, albeit for forcing cable companies to charge the lowest price for political ads.
