As in, “She wouldn’t hurt a fly. She’s as sweet as canned beans.” I don’t understand. I think some beans are sweet, like bbq baked beans. But I feel like most aren’t, they’re either savory or just vegetabley.

DO people say this? I mean. I’ve never heard it. It’s about as odd of an expression as “weird as a government stapler”.
