Hi Everyone,
tldr: Reviving the hardware group on Matrix with a focus on RISC-V and prototyping for fun.
Lately I’ve found myself wanting to study in a group setting, as it’s easier to absorb topics when there is a friendly cohort chugging along together.
The topics I want to cover are comprehensive involving hardware, design, and software.
So that the group benefits from others’ expertise/special interests…
If you are interested, send me a DM, or post in this forum what you would like to see/teach in a small group of 5-10 individuals.
The greater goal is to design a piece of computer hardware together. I am thinking we could work on a RISC-V Core and maybe a board just as a group hobby project.
Cheers,
-G
wow! this sounds cool and I’m definitely interested, but I don’t know anything except basic physics and programming. and also I may not be that active because school is trying to murder me. can I still join?
Yes you may! Sent you a DM
I’m interested in thia idea but with rf engineering
DIY network hardware would be cool
I’d be interested in making a design file for a chip capable of radiating an RF frequency… Isn’t a NIC a subtype of this device classification?

That would be great, after introductions I think we should create a roadmap of some basic parts that we would need…
I’m not too savvy on what we can already use that currently exists in the RISC-V ecosystem. My vision for our group would be to stick to as close to open sourcing everything as humanely possible.
Because one of our goals is an OS, we should define the pieces we need to build. I.e window management, file system explorer, PnP drivers… I sent you a DM.
can i be there just to listen?
Of course, I think that there should be some teaching sessions as well.
