Texas has pulled this shit just about every decade since its founding The DeLay gerrymander from back in 2003 was arguably more egregious.

Meanwhile, Dems had the fully power of the Federal Government in 2009 and again in 2021 and… did nothing. So white nationalists continue to pack and crack districts, while liberals wring their hands over DC or Puerto Rico Statehood because they can’t get broad bipartisan consensus.

Texas has pulled this shit just about every decade since its founding

Gerrymandering was happening before Texas was a state; they’re following the example set by other states.

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerrymandering

Printed in March 1812, this political cartoon was made in reaction to the newly drawn state senate election district of South Essex created by the Massachusetts legislature to favor the Democratic-Republican Party. The caricature satirizes the bizarre shape of the district as a dragon-like “monster”, and Federalist newspaper editors and others at the time likened it to a salamander.

The word gerrymander (originally written Gerry-mander; a portmanteau of the name Gerry and the animal salamander) was used for the first time in the Boston Gazette[b] on 26 March 1812 in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. This word was created in reaction to a redrawing of Massachusetts Senate election districts under Governor Elbridge Gerry, later Vice President of the United States. Gerry, who personally disapproved of the practice, signed a bill that redistricted Massachusetts for the benefit of the Democratic-Republican Party. When mapped, one of the contorted districts in the Boston area was said to resemble a mythological salamander.[8]

Texas became a state December 29, 1845, over 30 years later.

I also doubt that the above incident was the first case where people tried redrawing congressional district boundaries to benefit. Just the one where the commentary on it stuck well enough to leave the name.

They no longer care about voting? They must have the voting machines all fixed.

They wouldn’t need Gerrymandering if that were the case. They are doing this because they are still afraid of voting. Don’t preemptively build the apathy they want from us.

They want people not to vote because while Gerrymandered maps make things more difficult, but far impossible to overcome. Hell sometimes gerrymandering backfires and leads to more flips when done poorly or there’s a big enough wave against the party. Don’t equate it as fully gone. That’s doing their dirty work for them

If you got to cheat to win, then you know you’re really unpopular.

The Pedo Party needs to die off already. They’re a blight on this country…

It’s actually kind of amazing that it’s even possible to gerrymander TX more in favor of Repugs than it already is. Bravo.

Dems keep infiltrating their intricately drawn maps so they have to keep changing them to stay on power. No one wants them there but themselves.

You yahoos need to get an independent election administration. This is crazy, no other country pulls this shit unless they’re another third-world shithole as well.

Cool and illinois should redraw with super thin lines coming from the northeast corner of the state like a star or sun beems coming out and im sure new york and california and such can do similar. Sorta /s as I don’t really want to tit or tat this but sorta not as im not sure if we can do anything else to fight this crap. I don’t want to disenfranchise blue state republicans but the republicans have started this bs.

Not sure about CA and NY, but IL probably can’t do much. It’s heavily gerrymandered already. Out of 17 Illinois House seats, the democrats already hold 14. Texas republicans currently hold 25 of 38 seats. They have a lot more opportunity for shenanigans than IL does though it would be great if Pritzker could redistrict Mary “Hitler was right” Miller out of office.

I’m hoping CA and NY can do something.

Oh yeah but that stuff has been somewhat limitedly done in the chicago area. Im talking about striping chicago into the whole state. Now granted im kidding but if they are going to do these things with texas and florida im not so sure its not the way to go.

They also make sure there’s more Republican voters in the districts in the first place.

Unless you’re saying democrats shouldn’t think when they vote.

Im saying Republicans vote Republican because republican. I’m saying that this happens, with a complete absence of consideration of policy.

Will it enrich me? Will it harm me? Who cares, vote Republican.

The entirety of Leopards Ate My Face, is dedicated to Republican voters. That’s how fucking bad their complete disregard for predictable harmful consequences of their own actions is.

If Trump told them to stick a fork in the toaster to earn Power Ups, you’d have to literally tackle a Trumpty Dumpty to stop him from electrocuting himself.

Get ready y’all. Trump is opening Pandora’s box. He said they’d gerrymander Texas to win 5 seats. You’re going to see every state gerrymandered to shit to max out each party.
