For one of the recent weird rare owls, I was reading something and it was talking about how it had teeny weeny protrusions, but they were considered brows and not plumicorns. It was the subject or debate for a while, but they ultimately decided plumicorns were back further on the head.
I can’t find the reference now, but I’ll have to see if I can at some point. I’m traveling right now.
