Three students — including the shooter — were being treated at the hospital for gunshot wounds. The fourth student took themselves to the hospital with injuries sustained while escaping the high school and fleeing to a nearby elementary school.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office said the alleged shooter was a 16-year-old male and suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

In a way it is a good thing. People feel hopeless and want to lash out at the world they feel has done them wrong. Spotlighting the real unethical culprits with publicity, creates the potential for much more effective self expression

Sure, I know Switzerland does. I’m sure many other countries do. The only difference is, it’s heavily regulated.

You can keep your gun in Switzerland after finishing the mandatory military service. But the rules are still very strict

Yup, that’s why I said it’s heavily regulated. Outside of former military, the only people who really own firearms, are avid hunters. And even then, they’re very particular as to how they transport and carry them. I think it’s a model the US could embrace. But that would also require rectifying underlying societal issues such as, inequality, healthcare, etc.

Sudan and Somalia perhaps? Depends on how you define ‘allow’ I guess.

Of the three hospitalized students, one has succumbed to their injuries (the shooter who turned the gun on himself), one is still in critical condition and the third has been moved to a rehabilitation ward.
