It’s not so much the import tariffs (I’m all for import tariffs, but the money the government raises through them should be re-distributed to the people.)

It’s the fact that the government and the rich keep siphoning wealth off the consumer class, through taxes (import tariffs) and as company profits. Obviously, the consumer class has less money that way, so consumerism stalls. And that’s what damages the economy.

In other words, the government needs to redistribute the tax money to the consumers. Consumers should get handouts so the economy can keep running.
