Perhaps he thinks that people give a shit about his opinions. He burned his bridges with conservatives by accepting huge government contracts and shitting on trump. He burned his bridges with liberals with is DOGE fiasco and by allying himself with trump.

The few disaffected people that hung on after those can’t be happy with Elon throwing himself in Ketamine trance on a regular basis. Musks has zero credibility with anyone now except his hand picked board members of Tesla Inc.

Perhaps he thinks that people give a shit about his opinions.

Quite famously one of his biggest beefs when he took over Twitter was that the President of the United States of America was getting more hits on his Twitter account than Musk was. So he set out to fix that and has altered the algorithm that runs Twitter so that his tweets literally are the highest priority on the entire site. In other words, he really does believe his opinion matters that much.

Edit: P.S. and even though I haven’t had a Twitter account literally ever. I keep seeing his tweets because people keep fucking copy/pasting them all over the goddamn place. Something I wish would really fucking stop.

It indicates he wants it to, but its cognitive dissonance at best. If people did care about his opinion, he wouldn’t have had to put his thumb on the scale tilting the traffic to artificially point to his posts. People are leaving Twitter anyway, which has to prove it even further people don’t want to hear from him.

He still has a sizeable tech bro/temporarily embarrassed millionaire following filled with politically-apathetic/“right leaning for the tax breaks” people. But I can’t imagine they’re opinionated enough to take his opinion as a call to cancel their own convenient Netflix subscription so your point still stands
