The Founding Fathers set up a durable and highly respected system of governance, and are widely celebrated for that. They were also slave owners, and are widely condemned for that. People are complicated, and accepting that the same person leaves both positive and negative legacies is important to understanding them.

Denying and suppressing the bad parts of our history is unhelpful. Accepting the bad parts and trying to learn from them gives us the best shot at doing better in the future. We can both celebrate the good legacies of our country and at the same time acknowledge the bad ones.

I agree we need to understand it all. And i certainly touched on this. OP, however was only denigrating and not educating. It was 100% negative. I’m guessing you’d agree that’s not helpful either. Thanks
