Philips Hue will soon force users to create a Hue account and sign in to continue to use the app and control the smart lights. The best security model to protect smart devices is to keep them disconnected from the internet, or at least keep this option available.

Since the Hue bulbs are using the Zigbee standard, you can still safely buy them in the foreseeable future and just connect it with something like SkyConnect, zzh!, Conbee, etc. and use it with Home Assistant

I was under the impression that the v2 Hue Zigbee was encrypted, and hadn’t yet been broken.
Is this still the case?

As far as I know, since 2019 the Hue bulbs or lights are Zigbee + Bluetooth. I haven’t heard of a Bluetooth-only bulb yet
