      Federally, if they don’t earn enough tips to meet the regular minimum wage, the employer has to make up the difference. Not sure if California New Mexico has similar rules in place, though.

      That needs to be in the article and made clear, rather sloppy reporting actually. What about gig workers?

        Because it’s a pretty normal detail to go unmentioned when discussing minimum wage. That detail has always been the case, at least as far as I’m aware.

          This is actually the first time I’ve ever read an article about the minimum wage and it doesn’t discuss tipped wages.

          Mind you, it’s also the first Santa Fe minimum wage news article I’ve ever seen.
