Government employees asked a federal judge Wednesday to block the Trump administration from encouraging job applicants to demonstrate their loyalty to the presidentās agenda.
In aĀ lawsuitĀ filed earlier this month, a group of federal labor unions argues that the White Houseās āmerit hiring planā violates applicantsā First Amendment rights. The plan, put forth by the Office of Personnel Management, includes the following short essay question:
āHow would you help advance the Presidentās Executive Orders and policy priorities in this role? Identify one or two relevant Executive Orders or policy initiatives that are significant to you, and explain how you would help implement them if hired.ā



Thereās apparently some people joining ICE like that. Theyāre offering some huge bonuses with pretty decent salaries, especially if you have military service. Then they do nothing.

As someone who has worked in the Federal sphere before, this happens anyway; Ron Swansons are all over the place and have been for a long time. The idea that this would happen deliberately, en masse, is actually kind of awesome in a terrifying way.
