wait, why can’t a cop ask to see your license to drive a dangerous machine at high speed?

cops (or a member of the equivalent enforcing body) can ask to see your hunting and fishing and boating licenses, what’s the difference?

Because your traveling. That’s an enshrined right we have given up. The government isn’t supposed to restrict your right to travel freely, which was an intentional choice and not the case everywhere

Freedom of travel shouldn’t be taken for granted. Right now we technically have it, but it’s tracked everywhere. You shouldn’t have to show ID at the airport or a bus station, but at this point you do. It’s not a far cry from there to needing to have travel permits… It’s basically what’s being done to immigrants at this point, they can travel, but they’ll be harassed and possibly arrested

Now, there are some practical considerations when it comes to cars, but the right itself is basically non-existent at this point

yes, you’re travelling, and you’re doing so using a regulated machine

the idiots who don’t understand the distinction… well, they’re idiots
