Oh, we were talking about Trump who is the President of America.

So, be more pedantic! It’s fun, I do it too

They sure can! But they should be aware when anyone in any thread says “our blah blah blah” when talking about American politics, they mean Americans. We can’t spell every tiny detail out for you, it goes without saying that "our… " in a thread about Americans and an American politician, this is referring to those the thread is about.

Just like in my response to you, I say “they” rather than “non-americans not allowed to talk about US politics.” Because I am responding to you, and you should know who I am referring to. Certainly, I’m not talking about everyone on Earth.

THIS is how it works. Whatever country or political system and so on are the subject of the thread, when speaking of those who are involved in voting or parties or citizens and so on, “our” should be adequate for all readers without further explanation.

        Do you understand?

I didn’t make any assumptions, just telling you how it works, friendo.

Why would I be embarrassed? You’re the one who doesn’t know, I am being kind by teaching you. :P

You assumed I was American and supported a certain political party. Did you forget?

No such assumption or claim was made at any time, please pay attention!

YOU were in a thread about US politics and President Trump, and acted like you don’t know what “our” means in that context.

You assumed that I was making an assumption. Don’t do that. If you did this in public, you would be treated with disdain in any civilized company.

A group of people are talking, you overhear “Let’s go to our favorite restaurant!”

You interject “It’s not MY favorite restaurant, don’t make assumptions.”

The speaker looks at you with contempt. “I wasn’t talking to you”.

A thread about US politics on a worldwide facing thing called the internet. On a platform that is by design decentralised.

You cannot fathom that this isn’t a restaurant, it’s the internet and people on the internet are from all over the world.

Even now you’re doubling and tripling down acting like I’ve interrupted some private discussion with your friends because the alternative makes you look incredibly silly.
