This is cropped slightly for composition but not much. It’s one of the reasons I got this lens, so I wouldn’t have to crop so much.

Is the A9ii a higher resolution sensor?

Thanks for the follow up. The A9II is a 24 megapixel full frame camera. It’s probably best described as a sports camera since it’s fairly fast at 20 FPS and has a fast reading sensor that lets you shoot electronic shutter in the majority of situations.

A smaller APS-C sensor gives you a 1.5 crop, which turns the 150-500 into a 225-750 on a crop sensor body. I started out on a D40 (Nikon APS-C) 15 years ago and ever since moving to full frame I’ve missed the crop factor.

Since the A9 series isn’t particularly high resolution you can’t leave that much on the floor. Cropping to 750mm equivalent would result in a 12 MP image. I’ve been teasing the idea of picking up a used APS-C body to use in situations where I want more reach and have been on the lookout for some good examples. This is a perfect comparison, thanks!
