So these protests, obviously, didn’t do anything, as expected.
Can you start doing general, country-wide strikes to hit the Cheeto where it hurts? No violence needed, and let’s hope that stays that way, but you gotta do more than just hold up a disagreement sign at this point.
I’m a member of DSA and have done events with General Strike US. I’ve helped support striking workers and teachers with food and supplies, and walking the picket. I’m doing my part.
I’m also being realistic. Who’s going to pay people’s rent when strikes last 6 months or more?
Unions don’t form because there are rights to be wronged. Unions form because there’s an opportunity to make money. They’re a profitable service sought by workers due to mistreatment by employers. A small number of dedicated individuals can organize a few thousand people, secure more funding, and collect dues to sustain the effort.
90% of the “right” and 60% of the “left” won’t act until their own living situation is directly in jeopardy.
We’re not disorganized because we’re lazy (mostly); we’re in denial. Nothing like this has happened in our lifetimes, and we still hold out hope that someone will come around and sort it out. That’s how we were raised, it’s how our lives have happened up to this point, and we’re likely to head off to idiocracy before we spend an ounce of time being proactive.
Undeniably so, of course, that doesn’t mean it can’t shit itself.
If the vast majority of shareholders withdraw from OpenAI, Oracle, or Nvidia, the whole thing will likely plummet. I wonder if the 1% can hold up the full amount of all three without individual investors and retirement fund sheets.
Imagine if they could keep it running by each one of them owning 1/3 of the others outright.
Even if we were organized enough to think about doing that, there’s far too many people who think they have too much to lose still, specifically their children.
Okay.

We are nowhere near organized enough for that.
Then start organising. Unions didn’t fall from the heaven.

Don’t think it matters, unless the stock market took a tumble.
The stock market is largely a fiction now.
Layoffs at 2008/09 levels yet the economy keeps going higher cuz of “AI”. It’s all bullshit these days

Nobody is ready to die and the elites know it.
Americans(we) are not going to do a general strike.
