      We don’t cancel elections in the US. Even for war. A full-scale invasion of the mainland might be enough to try it, but some piddling foreign “special military operation” isn’t going to cut it.

        Yes but that’s based on precedent. The current administration gives zero fucks about precedent or logic or anything else. Any convenient excuse will work for them.

          Its also based on who runs the elections: the states. The federal executive branch doesn’t hold power over them.

        While I agree this is just step one. They are showing that law and precedent mean nothing if no one will do anything, and they will continue until that changes.
