Google “metal movie poster (title-of-movie-here)” and you’ll find a bunch of online stores that sell images printed on some kind of metal, often with a graphic border for “a distressed/vintage look.”
I’m fairly certain these are the result of some script that grabs popular images, adds the border, and creates the listing. Also, the border probably helps them evade some reverse-image-searches performed by the actual artists/copyright holders.
What is that border supposed to represent?
Rust. I think it’s supposed to invoke a metal plate with rusty edges. Hence the 4 screw holes (heh).
