    That isn’t a thing in all countries, not sure about the US rn. Esp. if the war is overseas. But it’s a well-known statistical fact that wartime presidents have a much higher chance of getting re-elected.

      It’s not a thing in the US. The reason Ukraine could do it is because it’s in their constitution.

      Not that the US constitution matters to Trump, but we don’t have the same mechanism. Probably because Ukraine expected to be attacked on their home turf, so it makes sense to not have an election when you’re actively fighting off a threat and your population might be scattered.

      That justification doesn’t work when you’re the aggressor.
