I’m not from the US and only have a vague understanding of the dynamics on the other side of the pond. But damn would it be funny if of all the things he does this would be his downfall. Like, there’s a million reasons not to let that guy near any public office… The pedophilia, the ridicule of disabled people, the dementia, the dismantling of democracy and its institutions, the treatment of women, the lying, you know this list could go on forever. But now there’s this one thing he says that any other country on earth regards as a reasonable and sensible thing to enforce, which is “people shouldn’t be allowed to carry guns around all the time” and suddenly he has a problem with important voter demographics. Like… this is a problem now? Unlike… *wildly gesturing at everything*…?

He didn’t lose any support when he said “Take the gun first, due process second” in his first term, so this won’t hurt him either. The talking heads are up in arms about it, but this story will be dead in a week and his supporters will forget. All they care about is hurting brown people. It’s so dumb.

Guns are more important than human life in the USA. Don’t believe me? We have lost 1.5 million Americans to gun violence in the last thirty years. That is more American citizens than all wars we have fought COMBINED… Crickets

Trump could molest a child that looks like his daughter standing in the middle of Fifth Avenue, pull out a gun, and execute her on live television for all to see and not lose a voter.

Trump mentions something negative about guns and voters threaten to leave his camp. That about sums up the insanity we are dealing with.

I saw an interview of some folks on the street in the south yesterday. “My 401k is doing good so im happy with how hes doing.”

Literally the most selfish people I’ve ever heard of. Unless you take from them in an obvious way, they just keep on truckin.

The US was all about immense narcissim from the very start, so it isn’t surprising. It’s disturbing and disgusting, but makes sense.

I mean those other things aren’t garunteed by what Americans call the bill of rights.

          As I said,

          I’m not from the US

so I act fully within my moral frame of reference to consider having that appended to a constitution as utterly insane.

But, you know, that Bill of Rights also includes amendments about e.g. requiring warrants to enter homes or due process and I guess there’s a whole bunch of laws about the stuff trump does I mentioned or didn’t mention above. But yeah, guns are obviously special or something.

        Guns are addictive…

They’re fun as fuck but if you spend enough time around them, you constantly aware of not having them when you don’t. Like, a gun in another room 20 feet away, and someone will got get the gun.

An explosion and fireball literally at your fingertips gives a huge boost of adrenaline and testorone on top of it, so it’s not just the mental "this is a great stick!’ base thinking but an actual physical addiction to the biochemicals that are released.

Same thing with huge v8 engines. There’s no lead but the exhaust fumes aren’t much better.

There’s a reason people are like they are, we might as well understand it. And the reasons why Americans latch on to guns and trucks is pretty easy to understand. It’s not something unique to Americans either, this is just where all the guns and v8s are

Hmmm. Reading this makes me think, maybe you shouldn’t have a gun.

I mulled over buying one for a few years and finally bought one a few weeks ago. It’s not a decision I took lightly. In my mind, the absolute best outcome of owning a firearm is that it is an absolute waste of a lot of money.

If that’s the reason for guns and huge cars, then it’s one of the best takes I’ve ever seen for regulating the fuck out of both.

There are plenty of other ways to feel empowered, big boy. Go downhill mountain biking. Learn martial arts. Become a part time lumberjack. Whatever. But if you just need hobbies that make you pound your chest, there’s really no reason to pick those that kill people or the planet.

            Here’s the chain of events:

            1. You asked me a question

            2. I answered it

            3. You downvoted me after completely misunderstanding the point and still not understanding anything I said or why I said it, despite you being the one that asked me to explain it.

Why in the absolute fuck wouldn’t I block you immediately so I never accidentally answer one of your questions again?

Like, I don’t even know what the fuck you’re doing.

Why ask me to explain something, agree that it’s plausible, but down vote the answer I took the time to type just to help you because you said you couldn’t understand something

Well, you know, the question was why that guns topic is so much more important than all the other atrocities going on. You see the relation in there? This idea of “I get there’s topic A, but why the fuck would that matter more than actually relevant topics B through ZZ?” Any relevant answer would thus have to establish some relation between A and any other topic and maybe generalise this relation a bit.

Your answer was “guns and v8 make dick hard”. More or less. Which is a not too elaborate but somewhat fair statement in itself, but, you know, kind of absolutely doesn’t answer my question. Alas, you missed the topic. Happens to the best. But don’t get all mad if you don’t get your upvote then, pal.
