These posts keep cropping up every now and then, see this post from yesterday. One of the top comments explains why these posts are meaningless or even harmful.

    To reiterate:
Germany issues travel advisories for almost any country to inform tourists what to pay attention to and what to be prepared for. For example warnings about bad water quality in ponds in some areas, possibilities of blizzards, forest fires in some areas, differences in driving laws and car rental laws, acceptance of currencies/payment methods, recommended vaccines for specific areas and of course what legal documents you need to enter.
A few days ago the travel advisory for the US (see here) was updated, adding that you should be careful in Minneapolis because of the protests there and harsh reactions from the federal officers, and information about the current winter storm was added.
The advisory also informs about strong border control measures such as officers being allowed to search through your phone/laptop but this was added almost a year ago.

This travel advisory is useful and exists not only for the US but for almost all countries, including Canada, France, Japan, Israel, China, etc. What would be more important is if there had been a travel warning issued for traveling to the US, which is not the case (see here).

The US may not be doing well but these travel advisories from Germany are no indicator of that.

Would be nice to see them actually decrying treatment of American citizens by offering refugee settlement to, for instance, trans people.

But when trans people try to get asylum, European countries laugh and say “we’re not going to go on record as calling the USA a shithole country, it’s the land of opportunity and where all the refugees want to go!”

You know, we’re sitting in a pot of boiling water. So accustomed to the abuse that it’s now becoming the norm. Everyone on the outside looking in sees what’s happening. The abusers as usual will say we need to toughen up, because this is the price of security.

Dont boycott the world cup. Just the American games. Watch the canadian and mexican ones even if you wouldn’t normally. This shit should be easily visible on a graph it will bring so much more humiliation if it’s only their games (which is admittedly most of them) have poor viewership.

        “Jamaica.”
        “Deport this immigrant!”
“But I’m an athlete, here for the games. I’m a pole vaulter.”
“Like ‘pole’ do you, hukyuk. Deport this gay immigrant!!! So any more gay words about poles, boy, and I’ll shooott you.”

After the success of Qatar, it seems pretty clear the only way to get people to not attend the world cup will be if the host country physically denies them entry. So for once, Trump might actually help us out here…

You know FIFA is much bigger than just the european countries, right? This is ironically a pretty racist take you’re bringing out.

Feels more and more like the true defining human trait is ignoring immense danger or obvious moral depravity to have a little treat.

I feel like that has never stopped football hooligans before.

Horrible of me to think, but football hooligans trying their shit on the US police would be incredibly cathartic to watch. Had to spend way too long with those assholes ruining it for everyone else so maybe I’m vindictive.

It’s mind boggling that the victims of yesteryears Nazis feel that they have to warn people about the american Nazis of today.

Putin must be touching himself intimately about all this.
I mean, yeah, Putin is a horrible disgusting person who should die horribly but you’ve got to hand it to him, he’s fucked america over royally. Christ.

Even though Putin might be gleeful of the decline of America, there is not much he should celebrate overall because his own country is slowly drowning in a quagmire caused by his stupid decision to invade Ukraine. Russia won’t regain any prestige even if they got concessions in Ukraine. The true winner is China, because Xi is simply letting his great power rivals give themselves a thousand cuts-- one cut at a time. The EU might emerge as another power if they de-couple from US in time.

Standing up for yourself is only considered “provoking” if you’re a bully.

You think Trump won’t literally invade and occupy Canada to stroke his ego? You think even American liberals of the future, invested in cold war anti communist narratives, wouldn’t take over a China aligned neighbor?

America is a bully and always has been. It is still the most dangerous empire on earth. Canada and Mexico will better serve their people by opening stroking Trump’s ego while quietly preparing for war. They don’t need to capitulate; they only need to avoid being an easy target.

stroking a tyrants ego has never really worked in history.

sure canada and mexico should dig trenches and prepare for the worst. but they should also just decouple from usa by making trading, defensive and free travel agreements with other nations (every country should do that)

Former war mongers pointing finger at nazi repetition. It took Germany about 25 years to get past their little indiscretions. I suspect it’ll take the disunited states the same length of time - starting at the Nuremberg trials 2.0.

same. but it sounds like it came after some german nationals got detained/arrested/abducted while they were entering the US legally.
