We really need to be asking why there were never investigations. How does protection from the FBI work exactly, and how do we stop it from protecting monsters currently?
Lobbyists selected by rich people tell politicians who to appoint to lead agencies. These people give directives and can get agents fired for disobeying.
Stopping it means removing “single points of failures” like not having such a powerful hierarchy, in addition to accountability measures (independent inspections, etc)

Be white.
Be connected.
Don’t be a threat to anyone else on the list.
because there is a pattern in who owns the most money and power.
and they love power over people more than obeying the law.
