I think the Christian nationalists have been feeling the end for a few years now. This is all animal flailing death knell behavior now. Seeing what they can codify that might create nostalgia for future generations. The kids today will never buy that concept though. They’re going to be dangerous until they’re extinguished.

Saying things like that kind of validates their persecution complex, no? I mean you can’t exactly say “nobody is persecuting you” immediately after saying “you’re dangerous until you’re extinguished.”

Like, if you want to back someone against a wall and force them to fight for their survival, that’s how you do it.

Obviously public school board meetings shouldn’t involve prayers or religion, and it’s not persecuting anybody to disallow it. But I don’t honestly give a shit if a student decides to pray at lunch, that’s their personal choice and all religions should be protected equally in that respect.

It’s about finding a middle-ground that respects all sides. “You won’t be forced to participate in religious performativism in order to take part in these publicly funded meetings. However, everyone is free to practice their religion on their own time as long as it doesnt infringe on the rights of others.”

It’s not that hard. Saying “we need to extinguish [X] religion” is the wrong way to go. That’s no better than one religion fighting another.

If someone’s religion is a scam or an abusive cult, like scientology or JW, they should be dealt with as a scam or as an abusive cult, on the merits of the case against them. Maga should be dismantled for being hate-fueled militant ethno-nationalists antithetical to the principles of democracy as enshrined in the constitution, not simply because they hide it all behind a veneer of christianity.

Please do not extinguish the kids.

Then it’ll be “Why aren’t you praying like we allowed? Are you evil? Looks like we’ve got an evil person here. Well well wel… Oh, what’s that, you are choosing to pray? Well, if that’s what you want to choose to do then who are we to stop you…
See, everyone, they wanted to do it all along.”
