Some states are deliberately not involved in conversations about quality of living or life expectancy or education. If the US didn’t have a handful of blue states holding onto rights it would be like the others that give up and become a sedentary police state where we only do what we are allowed.
I’m not denying that whole word reading or whatever that method is called sucks for initial literacy learning, but like they stopped teaching phonics for maybe a year at the districts out here. Total.

Mississippi school literacy rates are now near the top in the country, they stuck to phonics instead of that new style
