If they came out and honestly said “we will focus our antiterrorism efforts on suppressing workers’ attempts to organize” their cult rubes might smell something fishy (but probably wouldn’t).
The rubes don’t realize they are going to be harmed by conservative schemes, but in the meantime, they get to thrill about the harm being done to those they have been trained to blame all their problems on. They think immigrants, gays, liberals, uppity women are the cause of them peaking in high school.
