This is why you always hold a little reserves on the public throne. Once someone comes a knockin’ you unleash the beast and make sure you get some of that bowl resonance reverb. They will say something like “OHHHH!!” and walk away shamefully.

2·1 month agoEventually this is going to crater. Ammunition experienced a similar situation where it was being diverted to government contracts for years plus panic buying led to high prices. Then they came down again once demand normalized.

Electric Vehicles@slrpnk.net•Ford’s new EV pickup is named Fathom, will start at $28,350
4·1 month agoWhy is Price X + “Delivery Fee”… no if I cannot avoid the fee then that should be in the price. $28,350 + FEE ($1,595) = $29,945 this is the price. Why is it always smoke and mirrors with cars?
Sorry brother, guess it’s par for the course.
The problem is there’s no accountability anywhere. I’m a bit older so for me it’s been 9/11, Iraq with WMD lies, Afghanistan Taliban replaced by the Taliban, Arming the Latin Cartels, Panama Papers, COVID, Epstein Files, Bailouts for Wallstreet, there are more for sure but nobody is ever held to account for anything. The bigger the lie the bigger the corruption the more it just gets swept away like nothing happened. It causes you to lose faith in your country and die a little inside each time. So I get it.

memes@lemmy.world•When people tell me AI will eventually replace everyone
81·1 month agoAs AI improves it will program hand like robotics or tool attachments to be able to do this work. This is in the pipeline. They already have workers in China, Indonesia, Vietnam and others wearing cams to capture what they do with their hands so it can be consumed and replicated by AI. It’s only a matter of time. Then there is the replication of an issue we already had. Everyone is going into trades now same as everyone went into colleges before. Long term it will lead to surplus workers in that given field. Best thing to do is be agile and willing to learn and adapt as things shift. Link: https://deepmind.google/blog/gemini-robotics-2-brings-whole-body-intelligence-to-robots/

I have seriously considered just getting a small pc to just run as an emulator with a a few thousand arcade and old school console games and call it done. It would be more fun.
There is no point to consoles anymore. It used to be that consoles were easy to use and cheaper while PCs were more expensive and complex. That is no longer the case. Computers are stupid easy now and consoles have become too expensive. Nintendo excluded they are the only ones doing old console case where it is for children.

Unpopular opinion but I think the bible should be taught in schools not as indoctrination but discussed and covered. It really is a foundational document of Western Civilization.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•"influencers" are setting us back
2·2 months agoIt’s only going to get worst. I am already seeing those at work double check anything you say against an LLM and they come back with some version of well ChatGPT says… They don’t realize how much of a sycophant LLMs can be and if you ask a question a certain way it will just agree with you and find some kind of BS data to back you up.
Healthcare plays a big part. If we had socialized medicine people would feel much more comfortable moving jobs.
The constitution is just words on a paper without the threat of the people to back it up. It’s up to all of us to keep the rights we can defend.
Nobody in here actually exists. I am the only real person. /s
