1·2 days agoThat is likely exactly what that propaganda piece is for. “Don’t drink water, it’s silly anyway!”
Coupled with pushing sales of beverages for money.
I figure when the datacenter bubble bursts, the tech companies will keep consuming the same amounts of water and just start selling it.
Gotta find some way to the plot of The Water Knife. (Book has gas pumps that sell water, water meters next to sinks and showers, etc.)

261·3 days agoIt’s so weird how Apple basically explicitly said, “yeah so you can write software for it if you want, we won’t stop you. Also, we will obfuscate everything and provide no documentation.” So it is a very soft fuck you that should likely prevent lawsuits.
I miss Apple, the company that gave you schematics and programming instructions for their computers. Wonder whatever happened to them.

2·3 days agoIt’s so messed up that some states legally allow merchants to charge a “credit card fee”. Providers of services much like the above can charge if it’s a debit, credit, etc. even if they both say “Visa” on them. The concept of money in the US is so obfuscated now.

politics @lemmy.world•FCC abolishes gigabit speed goal, suggesting it is unfair to slower technologies
6·11 days ago1: Starlink
2: All providers don’t have to upgrade all of their infrastructure and can sell a 50Mbps link as fast. Backhaul can be much smaller and they can over-sell 50Mbps to a lot more people in a neighborhood than 1000Mbps.
3: All that core backhaul can be reserved for flock camera cellular feeds and AI datacenter traffic without having to spend on further upgrades.
A general regression, brought to you by the Regressive party.

Yes. Although the datacenters will likely kill themselves when the bubble pops. Still good to fight just the same and keep the pressure on. These loons will still have access to massive amounts of water and power even when the datacenters fail.
