Simply going to the instance and looking at the signup page.
They are coming from many instances. None of them seem to have the security question enabled at signup.
I did point out that I would not use the word myself, which was entirely for that reason.
I believe the difference is that an expat moved there non-permanently, while an immigrant moved there permanently
Though if I ever somehow became an expat, I wouldn’t use the word because of how people associate it.

I looked it up, most specific I could find is this quote:

Not sure how accurate this is, but the power has to originate from something that is actively powered.

I recall something about operating on leak current alone, which is probability where you got that from.
I know some rust. I definitely agree that the learning curve from other languages isn’t six months high.
I’ve dipped my feet into a couple such projects for about the same reasons. This list is very inspirational.
I think this is a known problem. I’ve seen it recommended a lot to moderate communities from the same instance.
