My solution to this problem is Jellyfin, fed by usenet-backed sonarr/radar and Tubesync to pull in YouTube channel subscriptions. Those are added to a Jellyfin library which is accessible right next to movies and tv shows.
This is all through the Jellyfin app on a 2019 Nvidia Shield Pro. It’s a perfect couch-friendly setup. For just regular YouTube browsing, SmartTube can be installed on the Shield and on your phone. You can then cast to the SmartTube app on the Shield instead of to the YouTube app.
You may also want to look into Usenet instead of torrents when you’re researching. Sonarr/Radarr/Readarr etc all work (in my opinion) better with Usenet.
You’ll need to pay some, but the reliability is amazing, which is extremely helpful for the partner acceptance factor. I pay for two providers (newsdemon is primary and eweka is a backup) and two indexers (drunkenslug and nzbfinder), and everything has been rock solid reliable for years. Download speeds are also MUCH faster than torrents.
Combine this setup with overseerr (or jellyseerr) so your partner can find their own things to download and you might be able to get them back on board.
Plus, no flaresolverr required!
It’s not very complicated, in my opinion. LMS can be installed inside HA as an add-on. I also have a separate music server (Navidrome) but I just pointed LMS to the same directory that Navidrome uses, and boom, control of all my music through HA.
The only caveat that I can think of is that your HA install needs to be able to see your music directory. In my case, I run HAOS in a Proxmox VM, so I just installed the Samba Share add-on.
Thirding Valetudo, it’s amazing. I even swapped out the default voice files with ones I wrote, then ran the new text through a GLaDOS voice generator.
Bad news - it looks like that particular model won’t run Valetudo:
Device has relatively weak hardware (in comparison to cheaper D9 variants). Hardware too limited to run Valetudo or other custom software. Not recommended device if you ever plan to root!
If you have a compatible model, it’s pretty easy to set up.
I have a Dreame D9 flashed with Valetudo, and it’s quite excellent.
Never even installed the app. Valetudo allows the machine to run locally, no calls anywhere outside the house.
I don’t know about the hass.io site, but I approach this question from the opposite end - a list of ZigBee devices supported by the various ZigBee controllers:
Just look for the logo of the controller software you use in the section for the type of device you’re interested in.
I’ve moved to Garmin now, but I have an ocean’s worth of salt over Pebble as well.
