They’re past the “fuck around” phase and nearly into the “finding out” phase. I’m honestly emotionally dead at this point. I’m just not capable of caring anymore.

Projection is also a common way for people to deflect blame for societal ills. Religious zealots will ignore and even shield sexual abusers present in their own institutions and divert that animosity to outside groups that make convenient targets. They are ok with the abusers within their walls because they are seeking absolution through religious systems. They are not ok with queer people because they need to scapegoat a group to explain why things don’t seem to be getting better.

Even in IT I find that with each consecutive job that I get, my wage increases while my workload decreases. I’m literally being paid more to do less. I don’t think it’s the same for all these professionals but I feel that once most people reach a certain level, they mentally retire from learning new things.

One of the things I had to learn quick working in IT was when to amiably tell a user to go pound sand. I’m a professional with my own work to do, not your personal assistant.

Google search has enshittified far faster than I ever thought possible. It used to work like magic. Too bad capitalism dictates that usefulness has a ceiling.

I think getting fucked was the idea

If they made reliable printers that worked, they wouldn’t have a business because everyone would have a reliable printer that worked and hp would have no one left to sell printers to. The problem has always been the shortcomings of shareholder capitalism.

I did some contract work for nvidia a few years ago to build out a data center for a client in the domain of pharmaceutical research. I’ve never worked for any employer more hypersensitive and narcissistic than nvidia. They will waste your time and fire you on the spot if you voice any concerns.

I lived with a buddy of mine who owned one of the first generation Keurig machines. We had problems with roaches cropping up here and there and we tried everything to get rid of them from diatomaceous earth to calling an exterminator but they always came back and we had no idea where they were coming from. We had assumed at some point that it was probably from an adjacent town home so we just dealt with them as they came and I didn’t think much of them after that. Fast forward a year or so and I’ve moved out of the place. I get talking with my buddy about the old roach problem and he tells me that he found out where they were nesting when his Keurig machine stopped working and he attempted to open it up and they came pouring out of the machine. My buddy grabbed some roach spray we had stocked up on and drenched the machine in it to kill as many of the damn things as he could. He ended up throwing that machine away. I’m glad I switched to French press and moka pots forever ago.

I tried using opera years ago before they switched to the blink engine. I uninstalled it right after installing it and finding out that it made itself the default browser without asking me.

I admire the students that are setting up book clubs for banned books. They are recognizing that they are being given a list of what they should read.

EU might hit them for it. I have no faith that the US government is going to do anything.

The point is that Apple has literally built in mechanisms in their ssds to prevent interpretability even as their old tech worked with it and yet tons of people buy their products with their blatant anti competitive practices and people like you will do apologetics for them. They could build RCS into their app at any point but they don’t and blaming their competitors for why they can’t put it in. They do it with apps on their smart speakers as well. They only want their services to work with their devices and there is no excuse for the most profitable tech company to act that way except that it affects their bottom line and if there was anything they could do to pad their pockets with this switch to USB c, you could bet your bottom dollar that they would do it.
