  • If you’re running a bunch of virtual machines or LLMs or something that needs a lot of RAM(video production/editing), it could be beneficial to run all 4 simultaneously if they’ll play nice with each other.

That said, it’ll certainly be slower than running the faster of the two kits in proper dual-channel mode for gaming. If you’re a novice or get easily fed up, I’d go with q. Be sure to activate XMP.

  • Add a smaller boot drive to run the OS and programs from, for sure. Maybe 2 if he wants to dual boot Windows and Linux(Steam OS full release is on the horizon).

If you can snag a 5090 in 2-3 days when they release, you’ll definitely be future-proofing yourself a bit more. There’s a liquid cooled version of the 5090 by Gigabyte that’s sure to be one of the best performing aftermarket variants.

I’d also swap the motherboard with the Asrock Taichi X870E, which is the best featured X870E board IMO. I’ve also had loads of issues with Asus products. Otherwise, it looks pretty maxed out. You win all the brownie points!
