President Donald Trump has applauded the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show over comments he made about the man accused of murdering Charlie Kirk.
New leadership is needed in established power structures. People need to act weekly and daily to promote action. People need to find each other and work together to find a way forward. Not hypothetically on the internet.
Find each other and start the dialogue. Literally meet up somewhere and start the conversation. What is happening? What is going to happen? What are you concerned about? What is at risk? Why does it matter? Talk.
What is within your reach as a citizen? As a small group? Local boards, city councils erc. What positions are elected? How can someone from your group get on the ballot? How can you be an election worker? What are processes for becoming one? Be at the council meetings and ask the questions that need to be asked, together. Show up to the town halls. Figure out your legal rights, find lawyers who share your concerns, email, call or otherwise contact your reps until they have actual answers. Help each other learn how to do all of this. Support each other when you inevitably fuck up and commit to pushing forward.
None of us can tackle Donald Trump or the Senate or the RNC. That isn’t your job or mine. That’s Pelosi and Schumer and AOC and Bernie and whoever the hell else is operating at the federal level. Maybe they succeed and maybe they don’t. Citizens can affect their local school board, the city council, county positions, district reps, your local DNC, Union etc. Focus on your sphere of influence, whatever that is right now.
Find each other and do just try your best, that’s all anyone can expect. What are the problem that need solutions? What are the questions that need answers? How can those be answered and solved. Everyone has something they can contribute and the more people that get involved the more likely it is that those collective contributions start making a difference.
So how would you suggest one begins? Like what in your thoughts would be the most effective way to counter this Bullshit‽
Edit: I’m actually asking not trying to be a smart ass
