The Pentagon has summoned military officials from around the world for a gathering in Virginia. Even top generals and their staffs don’t know the reason for the meeting.
10 bucks says Hegseth meant to meet with a couple generals, but because he was drunk he accidentally sent the orders to every general and admiral in the military.
Auto-complete changing Al into All Generals instead of Al Johnson.
I will make that bet.
I 2nd the bet!
Can anyone added accidentally to the signal group brief us on what happened in the meeting please.
Well we had the horst wessel shooting time for night of the long knives?
More like the way Hitler had all the generals summoned in 1935 to take an oath to him personally instead of to the Weimar Republic.
Military take over of sesame street
I fucking knew it
well the pizza index was high last night. that market’s just opening so keep an eye
How high was the pizza index before us bombed Iran
Maybe they’re all getting a suprise ice cream party.
I’m thinking red wedding.
They are preparing the Military on the fight on Antifa.
Aka: Martial Law
They are preparing the Military on the fight on Antifa
I suspect they are informing the generals they are about to begin an invasion of (take your pick) country.
No. This is something else. If it was an invasion plan there would be the usual high level meetings at the Pentagon and Whitehouse. Then orders would be issued via the usual secured communication.
The only reason to bring all of them in is a for a political purity test and or mass firing.
I mean, theoretically, shouldn’t a literal room full of top Generals be able to organize and have all their bosses placed under Military Arrest for issuing corrupt orders? Our soldiers are not supposed to obey corrupt orders.
My guess is Venezuela.
“remember in 2001 when we sent you on a pointless crusade against a nebulous idea? We’re doing that again but harder.”
Or something like making his horse a consul?
This is 100% wishful thinking, but perhaps they’re taking Russia seriously.
Fuck, I couldn’t even muster the cope to think this might be true.
If they were taking Russia seriously, they wouldn’t consolidate the command of the entire US military into one base in Virginia.
Russia wouldn’t even need a nuke at that point. Just conventional bombs on a couple ICBMs or SBMs would effectively decapitate the United States government. Hell, just a few spies with a Uhual full of explosives could do it without risking retaliatory launches.
The idiot just rang the dinner bell for any foreign government that wants to cripple the United States. This order alone should be a fireable offense on the grounds that it blatantly weakens national security.
Not to mention the general softening of the battlefield with every other aspect of government serving the people being gutted.
More likely, he’s giving the orders to invade Greenland, or Aberbooboo.
perhaps they’re taking Russia seriously
trump takes his orders from Putin, and as such he will be invading Norway
Here’s a good article on what this might well be about: https://www.jackhopkinsnow.com/p/how-to-read-hegseths-mass-recall
That article is honestly kind of nonsensical and reads like AI. What does Watergate have to do with any of this?
Nixon purged the DOJ to cover his ass from watergate.
Trump might be preemptively purging the DOD to cover his ass for a dictatorship.
Trump might be preemptively purging the DOD to cover his ass for showing up in the about to be released Epstein files
I was a bit lost on what you are referring to… Is it these three lines as one of the mentioned historical echoes that aren’t mentioned in the rest of the article?
Historical Echoes
(…)
Nixon’s Saturday Night Massacre (1973):
A president gutted DOJ to protect himself. Substitute “DoD” for “DOJ,” and the rhyme is chilling.(…)
If something else, it would be interesting knowing what.
And pure 100% conjecture. ChatGPT does a better job at citing.
It reads like an AI that had “write in the style of a crazy conspiracy theorist” as part of its prompt.
Is this going to be like Squid Game, Pentagon Edition?
This is one of those headlines that freaks me out, but ultimatly this meeting probably won’t effect me in any way. This keeps happening. I should just stop monitoring this stuff.
They don’t do this sort of thing. It’s very convenient for avoiding a paper trail though. Don’t need to send out a memo saying to gun down protestors, just tell them all to their faces.
One of the few things I trust the military to do is to have the high ranking officials know what constitutes an illegal order, and to ask for a written order to cover their own asses.
More trusting than I then. We will see.
Remember, I’m not saying they wouldn’t do it, just that they wouldn’t line up eyes open to take the fall if it goes sideways.
These are the people who in a very real sense give the government power against popular resistance. They’re not going to agree to commit a crime without at least an assurance that the people they’re doing it for go to the gallows with them.Hell, the CIA put the name of the law they were violating right in the orders multiple times.
He wants to tailor butch new uniforms and enact stricter eye shadow guidelines?
“Ladies and Gentlmen, we have a dire situation at hand that threatens the security of this great nation. I’ve gathered you all here today to help me convince the President that the orange tiles are not lava.”
There is no way this is a good thing. Summoning a single general to a meeting without giving any context is not a thing that is done. Summoning all of them and not stating the meeting purpose or providing read ahead charts or pre-briefs… that’s incredibly ominous.
I’m hoping it is only him directing them to call it Dept of War (DoW) on all official comms instead of DoD.
Its also ridiculously irresponsible.
There is a lot of discussion to be had over the actual value of a general in modern warfare (where individual soldiers have tactical value and so much decision making happens at the company or even squad level). But no discussion is required to say what a ridiculously juicy target “every high ranking military official” is and the massive damage to morale and organization that would ensue.
Yeah that’s a lot of HVT in one area.
I wouldn’t be super shocked if this turns into loyalty pledge-a-palooza.
That’s my guess as well. “Swear a blood oath to King Trump personally or you’re fired right now”.
I’m skeptical of that.
This will be hundreds of “military men”. Yes, the vast majority are pencil pushers who are in worse shape than the average divorced dad “trying to get back out there”. Even if they are bringing every single chud they can find, they are still going to be the “weaker” group. And chuds hate feeling weak.
If it were just the inevitable loyalty oaths, I would expect that to happen in more isolated groups. And while it is always possible that they could batch the generals into the room to kiss the skidmarked ring, that still feels like a risk when they might not get the photo op they want at the end.
My money is on “planning how to secede from the United Nations”. Aka “planning to go to war with basically all of NATO and a bunch of Global South countries who want revenge”. Whether that goes anywhere is a different discussion, but “all of our generals made some great plans” is a talking point they would want.
When Saddam took power he called a meeting of the party leadership and publicly arrested those he suspected of “treason”. He even had the event recorded.
Yeah but Drunky Smurf is a total coward
Vance and Hegseth arent, though…
"Ich schwöre bei Gott diesen heiligen Eid, daß ich dem Führer des Deutschen Reiches und Volkes, Adolf Hitler, dem Oberbefehlshaber der Wehrmacht unbedingten Gehorsam leisten und als tapferer Soldat bereit sein will, jederzeit für diesen Eid mein Leben einzusetzen.“
What, with the current administration, is not ridiculously irresponsible?
They have not yet decided to ban speed limits and seat belts, but I wouldn’t hold my breath on that
