But let’s talk about what happens if Little t decides to federally mobilize Illinois National Guard against citizens in Chicago. Pritzker is not Newsom. I fully expect that Pritzker would do what Newsom should: as commander, order National Guard troops to stand down. While there is already state law in place that says IL law enforcement cannot assist with federal “immigration enforcement,” we also know that Chicago police has a dodgy history at best. We’ll have protesters, National Guard on both sides, police on both sides, and the Marines.

Chicago will be uglier than Los Angeles.
