I’ve been to many ren fests, and I can say that no one cares what you’re dressed as, as long as it looks dope. I once saw a man in a weird mechanical raven-man outfit, giving small colored rocks to children. I’ve also seen Jesus there many times.

My favorite ren fair photo is one with a star trek away team investigating the primitive civilisation.

One Ren Faire I attended had a bunch of people dressed up as the Attack On Titan cadets.

Didn’t even turn any heads. We’re here to be weird. 😎

My closest ren faire has a “time traveler weekend” when you’re encouraged to wear anachronistic garments.

Many, many Doctors Who, and your assorted Starfleet away team. I think I even saw a beltalowda last time.

Last time I went, I went as a steampunk time traveler, and the group I went with were my “crew” that I had picked up across time, which is why none of our costumes matched and some didn’t have any. My group thought it was hilarious.

Ren faires are just an anacronism stew. Maybe some take historical accuracy seriously, but I’ve been to quite a few and have yet to see one that does. My local one has everything from ancient greece to steampunk Victorians. There’s even a Wok themed after Imperial China where these guys would fit right in. You see more fantasy then historical costumes usually anyway.

It’s just a place for nerds and weirdos to vibe, buy trinkets, drink, eat fair food, and wear cool costumes.
