Bill Burr gave a no-holds-barred interview to Vulture where he called CNN and Fox News a âfucking diseaseâ and railed against conservatives like Ben Shapiro for trying to brand him as some âwokeâ comedian. Burr and Shapiro got into a public spat earlier this year when Shapiro blasted Burr for âgoing wokeâ after the comedian took aim at âselfishâ and âgreedyâ CEOs in the wake of the murder of UnitedHealthcare chief executive Brian Thompson.
âHe doesnât even know what that word means,â Burr now told Vulture about Shapiro. âHis definition of woke is white liberalsâ definition of woke, and they didnât even know what it was; they just took the word from Black people. Thatâs the worst thing about our people â not only do we take from other cultures, we donât even take the time to understand the definition.â
Burrâs comedy has become increasingly political in recent years, although he makes a point to lambast both the right and the left. This decision has resulted in each side of the political aisle accusing Burr of siding with the other, not that the comedian cares anymore.
âI trash âem both because that is my job,â Burr told Vulure. âI canât fix the political system, but when I do stand-up, if I start trashing, like, Trump, Iâd hear the left in the crowd go, âYeah, yeah, yeah!â And Iâd be like, âThe fuck? You voted for a guy that is staring off into space. Your guy literally should be in a fucking home. What are you patting yourself on the back for? Your fucking party has not let you choose your candidate since Obamaâs second term. Youâre liberal? Thatâs fucking insane.â Iâm not flying either one of their flags; itâs the people who pay them thatâs the problem. And theyâre always distracting us with other stuff. CNN and Fox News are a fucking disease.â
Burr is a treasure

Someone like him could have actually beat Trump. We need populists like Burr, who look and sound like Burr. The time for policy wonks and career politicians may just be over. The age of Brawndo is dawning.

I think the US now needs significantly more people like Burr, who refuse to be intimidated by this regime and all their henchmen, even though they must expect immediate retaliation.
If more people donât speak up and organize, there will soon be no way to voice criticism, because then dissidents - even US citizens - will disappear unheard, as is the case in other dictatorships.
Burr has a knack for just laser targetting on the bullshit and telling it to fuck off.
