People are puzzles to me. I don’t believe in evil as a force - so I’ve put in a lot of thought and done a lot of prodding… What makes these people tick?
They’re scared, and they want to feel strong. They do that through belief in a strongman, they do it through dressing like someone strong, they do it through projecting all their problems on the vulnerable and covering their fear with hatred
They’re still (mostly) men armed with guns, but they’ve put on the trappings of strength. But they are not strong.
If you let them feel strong, they’ll never stop. They’ll beat people down in the streets. They’ll put people in inhuman conditions. They’ll keep going until someone gets grievously injured, but then they turn back into little bitches. They’ll kill en masse though cruelty and incompetence, they don’t have the juice to carry out their ideals directly
They need your fear. If you don’t fear them, they’ll be nervous about a 20 to 1 confrontation, even unarmed 2 or 3 people can turn back an ice raid by walking at them menacingly
Mocking them pops the illusion early. If they don’t feel strong in all their tacticool gear and numbers, they run. If they don’t feel safe behind their masks, they quit. These are not soldiers, our actual soldiers are maliciously complying with all this
It was the same with the Nazis, and this is a pale imitation of them. The Nazis killed themselves out of fear and PTSD at incredible rates.
Mocking them at every turn is a very effective way to keep each other safe.
