We live in the UK. She didn’t go any further than this. I got her to download TOR and use the “old.Reddit” trick to bypass this so it was only mildly infuriating for her in the end

    Honestly Lemmy gets mentally draining, constant political drama that is guaranteed to lean left, barely any non-partisan or neutral discussions happen here and god forbid anyone say anything that can be seen as conservative because a barrage of insults are certain to come your way.

    While I support the Lemmy project there are quite a few communities that I had subscribed to on Reddit that are missing here.

        My “whining” is because of people like /u/[email protected]. This is what makes Lemmy mentally draining, they’re hellbent on their political ideology and if you don’t conform you get ousted, fed to the fishes so to speak.

          I hear you.

          I’d never really encountered the nutty parts of progressive politics until coming to Lemmy. Often times you don’t need to say something conservative, but merely say something that challenges a poorly conceived thought bubble and you get piled on.

          There’s a really strong sense of idealism here. A lot of users deal in absolutes and don’t seem able to engage with the nuance of life.

        I have a good word filter list that seems to do the trick. Apart from when the titles are “things am I right?” And the description is “this ^”, no word filter will work on that. Wish there was a politics tag.

      No matter what happens, I always expect Lemmy to have the worse possible take.

      I also don’t like that politics seems to spill into every community
