Back in the days, we had a requirement that certain papers have to be 40 pages long, give or take two. I was the goto-guy who knew how to do 1.45 line spacing instead of 1.5, twisting the page margins and such things to bring smaller and larger texts “in range”.

I once typeset one guys complete paper on one A4 sheet just for fun.
