The campaign, led by Undersecretary of Defense for personnel and readiness Anthony Tata, would “encourage young people to honor the legacy” of Kirk by “by joining the military.” One of the slogans reportedly being considered is, “Charlie has awakened a generation of warriors.”
The silver lining here is it may lead to a reduction in the amount of unnecessary hero worship aimed at the military since 9/11.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE! /s
And thank you for your cervix!
Naw
If I were in charge, I’d do the same.
“Like seeing Nazis catch a bullet in the throat? Sign up to get your shot.”
Republicans are actually thrilled he got shot and now they can milk it forever as the perma victim actors they are
They’ve been WANTING this ever since Kennedy. Democrats rode that wave for almost a decade and created a whole slew of incredibly beneficial programs in so doing. There’s still a part of the collective GOP psyche that’s pissed that Reagan didn’t get gunned down, that Bush II didn’t get hit with those shoes, and that Trump didn’t get assassinated in Butler, because it’s an INSTANT way to generate sympathy and pretty much guarantee that you get your way for at least a little while.
Republicans: Now we have our own MLK Jr!
Milking that guy’s death as much as humanly, and inhumanly possible.
The venn diagram of people who served and who would be exactly the type to write Helldivers 2 memes on their bullets is pretty close to a circle.
“Charlie has awakened a generation of warriors.”
Charlie made people woke. It went full circle.
I don’t think they understand how much of the military likes dark humor.
This is the time to temper reactionary tendencies and redirect passions into something creative. Destruction benefits rebuilding, but the collective vision can channel the passion into creating something that approaches an outcome that benefits everyone.
