While I agree with her on pretty much every political opinion that she has i find it frustrating that the only reason she receives mass support and attention is she’s a white women. If she was any other race no one would pay her any attention. Im glad she uses her privilege for the right reasons but the fact she has this privilege is incredibly frustrating

Yeah because real problems like black women being more likely to die from child birth, Latina women being more likely to be raped at work, aboriginal women being more likely to have their murders become cold cases, or white women out earning every other race of women is culture war bullshit.

Let’s be real, if your not a white women your race specific issues are often ignored and you’re left to fend for yourselves. Everyone likes the forget the sufferage movement was split down the middle because a large number of white women thought they should be the only women who should be able to vote. Or the fact 52% of white women voted for that orange asshole dictator in chief. Or 40% of slave owners were white women

So you aren’t allowed to protest Gaza genocide unless you are in a minority group? What is this garbage logic?? Do you really care or are you just trolling in order to distract? All the things you raised are problems, but focusing on one thing at a time doesn’t mean all other things don’t matter.

A person saying this out-of-pocket shit is definitely a controlled opposition of some type. Or the person you’re responding to might just be a really good bot

huh, i never once considered her special because of her skin colour, it was more so her acts and the thoughts that she verbalised, simply by being human and going above and beyond to help out her fellow humans, and bring attention to their strife. not saying you are incorrect in assuming the core reason of her popularity was due to her skin tone. but id argue (without trying to sound like a dick) that maybe its more about her actions and willingness to use her privilege, while being an autistic person with severe justice sensitivity, that may be the bigger story here.

we dont need to reduce people to their skin colour and privilege in order to find them worthy of our support, and willingness to accept their support in return. and it shouldnt be frustrating that the person helping you or others doesnt look how you want them to.

its not her skin that makes her special, its her mind and how she uses it. perhaps this speaks more about my own views on race, the worlds, or perhaps its speaks more about yours.

when you are blind, wandering in the dark, a helping hand is a helping hand, afterall.

      BUUUUUUT.

if you would like to drop a few names of some other activists with different backgrounds doing good work right now, to bring some light their names, im always down to be inspired. as im sure everyone else in the thread would be as well. :D

Considering climate change issues overwhelmingly affects ppls from the global south that have been complaining about issues such as cancer valley in Houston, rising sea levels in island nations, indigenous lands that are being seized for industrial farming and cattle, or large scale agriculture that poisons 3rd world countries with pesticides, activist from these areas have overwhelmingly been ignored.

“Thunberg never asked to be the messianic-like face for the climate movement. In fact, she told Congress, “I shouldn’t be up here. I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean.” And by the media and public making her the center of youth-led climate activism, the work of many Indigenous, Black, and Brown youth activists is often erased or obscured.”

Edit: honestly the fact that I have to prove that climate change overwhelmingly effects countries that arent even close to primarly white or even white countries that pollute areas that are primarily brown yet the spokesperson is a Nordic white teenager is problematic in itself. The fact that ppl more likely to feel the repercussions of climate change or genocide need a Swede to speak for them is problematic. It basically tells them your voice doesnt matter and you can’t speak for yourself
