Following Tuesday night’s resounding victory for Democrats across the country, Donald Trump came up with a long to-do list Wednesday morning that he thinks is the solution to what ails Republicans. And bizarrely, during his postelection meltdown, he claimed that Americans need ID to buy groceries.

There’s a non-zero chance he sees people swiping debit/credit cards to pay, and thinks that’s “checking ID”.

It’s the only way I can think of for why he’s convinced. Especially since he’s seeing it on TV and not in person.

Could also be distant memories of people commonly using checks to pay their groceries, which does usually have them check your ID. Obviously paying with check is pretty rare these days.

He has likely never been anywhere near a cashier at a grocery store in the past 50 years

When you are at that level of rich you don’t go grocery shopping. Hell, Michael Jackson had to rent out an entire store just to experience it hassle free.
