The biggest takeaway from this is … not that the president is doing this
The biggest takeaway is that … THE REST OF THE COUNTRY NORMALIZES THIS BEHAVIOUR!
Like seriously. My parents who brought me to volunteer in soup kitchens and federally funded christian outreach programs, literally voted against feeding the poor and for deporting American citizens who are trying to get jobs and bring their children to school. I have so many questions but when I ask its like talking to a brick wall… actually I get more information from concrete than I do with my parents
It wasn’t exactly a secret that Trump is like this. It’s hardly unexpected that the country that elected him would let him do what he was expected to do.
California isn’t. They paid out SNAP in full starting this morning. It took the assembly a little time to pass an emergency bill.
But my Tennessee governor told us that they had no way to get state funds onto federal cards!! It was just too difficult so they weren’t going to use the $2,100,000,000 dollars in the “rainy day fund”
Massachusetts is promising benefits in full by Saturday.
…. It’s unclear how since previously they said there wasn’t enough slack in the state budget and they didn’t say where the money would come from. They can’t possibly trust the federal govt so idk
And the Republican party allows him to do what he wants
It’s not like we can do anything about it though.
Is that you, Hakeem Jeffries?
