      The brown shirts do not fear any reprisals. They know that the gun toting yankies are on thier team.

      They only have to fight against people who come up with slogans and puns to put on thier placards.

          I appreciate the sentiment, but it’s semantics. I’d argue that Brownshirts are “cop adjacent”, in that they’re illegitimately empowered by the state and courts, and behave like the most unhinged factions of law enforcement with no fear of censure from either. Local police and sheriff’s offices have been regularly observed directly collaborating with, or at least ignoring (giving a free pass) the activities of ICE. Beyond that, the rubes that I’m talking about don’t see that difference, and don’t see them as illegitimate.

          Even if we try to say oppressive fascist police aren’t police, they love racist thugs even more. Nothing that’s happening is contrary to their worldview, because their worldview was never actually about being the last line of defense against an oppressive government in a general patriotic sense.
